Getting leads from Facebook ads is one thing — getting them to actually walk through your door for a trial class is another challenge entirely. If you're generating leads but they're not showing up, you're not alone. This is one of the most common problems martial arts school owners face.
Why Leads Don't Show Up
Understanding the psychology behind no-shows is the first step to fixing the problem:
- ▸They filled in the form on impulse and forgot about it
- ▸Fear and anxiety about trying something new
- ▸Life got in the way — they genuinely meant to come but didn't
- ▸No sense of urgency — they think they can come "anytime"
- ▸Poor follow-up — they never felt expected or welcomed
The Follow-Up System That Doubles Show-Up Rates
This system can increase your show-up rates by 2-3 times. It combines automation with personal touch:
Immediate Response (Within 5 Minutes)
As soon as a lead comes in, they should receive an automated text message. Something like:
"Hey [Name]! Thanks for your interest in [School Name]. I'm [Your Name] — when would be a good time for you to come and try a class? We have sessions on [days]. Let me know what works best!"
The Phone Call (Within 24 Hours)
Call every lead within 24 hours. Keep it simple and friendly. Don't interrogate them — just book them in.
Booking Confirmation
Once they're booked, send a confirmation message with:
- ▸Date and time of their trial
- ▸Address and parking information
- ▸What to wear/bring
- ▸A friendly "we're looking forward to meeting you!"
The Reminder Sequence
- ▸24 hours before: "Just a reminder about your trial class tomorrow at [time]. Looking forward to seeing you!"
- ▸2 hours before: "See you in a couple of hours! Remember, [address]. Just come in and ask for [Name]."
The No-Show Follow-Up
If they don't show, don't give up:
- ▸Send a friendly message: "Hey, we missed you today! No worries — life happens. Want to rebook for another day?"
- ▸Follow up again 2-3 days later
